The god in control of time
has a weakness for Crans-Montana
Perched on a plateau overlooking the Rhone valley, Crans-Montana has the advantage of a Mediterranean microclimate. There is never a shortage of sunshine and the air there is the purest and healthiest in Switzerland. People come to Crans-Montana to find energy and envigoration.
Skiing, snowboarding and golf are the main attractions of Crans-Montana – although another discipline is trying to steal the show, and that is shopping! All the big names in Italian and French fashion plus the Swiss master clock and watchmakers can be found here at Crans-Montana. Our international guests appreciate the typical Swiss discretion, and an oasis of peace and quiet in the centre of Europe that nothing can spoil.
But at Crans-Montana the mountains come first and foremost. Here you find yourself in the heart of one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the Alps, with the finest 4000m peaks around you: Matterhorn, Weisshorn, Dent-Blanche and Mont-Blanc.
Crans-Montana is regularly at the forefront of the international sporting scene by organising a large number of ski and snowboard competitions. The resort has no fewer than 160 kilometres of synchronous pistes at all levels and for all disciplines.
The pleasure of hiking can be experienced on over 280 km of sign-posted routes. Then there is horse-riding, mountain-biking or paragliding in surroundings which are sometimes gentle, sometimes wild and sometimes rebellious. For children, there is ice hockey and street ball, while their parents meet up for a game of beach volley ball – and these three activities are entirely free of charge.
It is impossible to talk about Crans-Montana without mentioning its magnificent golf courses. The Severiano Ballesteros course was voted the best course in Switzerland by Swiss professional golfers. The specialist magazines Golf Monthly and Golf Magazine classify its seventh hole as one of the 40 finest in the world. The Jack Nicklaus course is classified as one of the best of Swiss golf courses. The most important Swiss tournament, the Omega European Masters, has also chosen Crans-Montana in which to hold its major annual event.
