Pontresina is a glacier village situated at the foot of Piz Bernina and Piz Palü, in a wind-protected side valley of the Upper Engadine at 1,800 metres above sea level. Linguistically, the Upper Engadine belongs to the Rhaeto-Romansh area of Switzerland.
Pontresina is trendy and open-minded, and yet continues to maintain its traditional and cultural roots. Visitors have a choice of beautiful old Engadine houses, exciting pubs and restaurants, and interesting cultural events.
The resort enjoys from 6 – 13 hours of sunshine per day, long periods of good weather with high sun intensity. The air is dry, pure and bracing and fog is rare.
Pontresina boasts the highest altitude conference centre in Europe, and the largest training centre for mountain guides in Switzerland is based here. Thanks to the quality of its services and its focus on the individual guest, Pontresina provides the elegant comfort of a traditional mountain resort within the well-known destination ENGADIN/St. Moritz.
